Singapore, November 6: More than 2,000 architects and designers attended the annual World Architecture Festival at the Marina Bay Sands. The renowned World Building of the Year was announced at the festival’s gala dinner, which was awarded to Ole Scheeren of OMA for the Interlace.

Formed from a series of stacked housing blocks and arranged in a hexagonal grid, The Interlace is a distinctive architectural design assuming an iconic landmark of Singapore.

The complex is situated in the Southern Ridges area of Singapore, a 10km group of green spaces in Singapore, within the hills of Mount Faber Park. Taking on the best of the natural areas, The Interlace represents the best of urban living, blending the green location, nature, space with the community.

Professor Sir Peter Cook, the renowned British architect, told CNN “it’s a game-changer…something you’ll remember and go, that was when somebody first did that thing, of these blocks in the sky, with gardens on them.”
